Harry D. Float

HARRY D. FLOATElgin friends have learned of the death of Harry D. Float of Riverside, Cal., who died at his home July 12 at the age of 73 years and 7 months.
Mr. Float was for 5 years operator for the Western Union telegraph company, serving as civilian operator during the Civil war at Little Rock, Ark., expreiencign a number of strikes and having the manngement of offices in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. Five years ago he had charge of the Elgin office, leaving here to take the management of the Geneva office and later retiring to make his home in Riverside. He is survived by his widow, and one daughter, Miss Ninn Float. While residents of Elgin, both Mr. and Mrs. Float were popular socially and were prominent members of the First Congregational church.
