       After suffering an illness of but four weeks John A. C. Patterson, an aged resident of Elgin and well known member of the G.A.R., died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Conrad Young, Fr., at 6:30 o'clock last night.   Deceased was 77 years, 7 months and 11 days of age.
       Mr. Patterson was born in Arkwright, R. I., in 1830.   Thirty-one years ago he moved to Illinois and for the past two years has resided with his daughter, Mrs. Young at 531 Grace street.   He was a member of the J. M. Muse post, G.A.R., at Milan, Ill., and during the war of the rebellion was a member of Company F, 23th Regiment Rhode Island Volunteers, and of the Ninth Army Corps.
       Funeral services will be conducted by the Veteran Post, G.A.R., of this city, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the late home.   Interment at Soldiers Reserve cemetery.   Friends and relatives are asked to please omit flowers.

       John A. C. Patterson died at 6:30 Thursday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Conrad Young, 531 Grace street, after an illness of 4 weeks.   He was born in Arkwright, Rhode Island, in 1830, and came to Illinois thirty-one years ago.   He was a member of J. M. Muse post, G.A.R., of Milan, Illinois.   He served in the civil war in a Rhode Island regiment in the Ninth army corps.
       Mr. Patterson had resided with his daughter, Mrs. Conrad Young, for the past two years.   He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Byron, of Elgin, George, of Streator and John of Rock Island, and Mrs. James Hoyles and Mrs. Conrad Young, Jr. of Elgin.
       The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, from the home on Mrs. Young, and will be in charge of Veteran Post, G.A.R.   The body will be interred at Bluff City cemetery.   Pleas omit flowers.
