   Issued .69 US Altered Musket.
   Died Jan. 1, 1862.

Obit: Jan. 8, 1862 issue Elgin's Weekly Gazette.
Another Soldier Gone.
Death of Taylor Perry of Clinton.
This young man enlisted in Co. A. 7th Ill. under Capt. S. G. Ward, in July last, and went to Cairo and thence to Fort Holt with his regiment.  He was soon taken sick and was sent to the hospital at Mound City.  After remaining there more than three months he was honorably discharged and sent home.  He lived four weeks after arriving at his home in our neighboring village of "Clinton.  He died on Thursday morning of last week Jan. 2d, aged 18 years.  His funeral was attended on Friday by a large number of his friends and neighbors.  He was a sober, steady young man, and had the confidence, of his associates and deep affection of his relatives.
Thousands of our brave young men are falling silently and unobserved into their graves; but they are as truly patriots and heroes as those who fall on the battle field.  War makes and havoc even when there are no terrible engagements.
