Capt. Riddle.
This gallant officer who lost an arm in the desperate charge upon the works at Vicksburg, when they were first invested, arrived at his home in this city last week.  He is very weak, but it is confidently believed that careful nursing in this pure bracing atmosphere will soon invigorate his wasted frame, infuse into the Captain new life and energy.  He has shown himself possessed of *** like courage and will reclaim the respect always accorded to the brave who puts life in defense of liberty.  We never see a wounded soldier without an involuntary "God Bless You."

Notice: July 22, 1863 issue Elgin's Weekly Gazette.
Capt. Riddle.
We are deeply pained to announce the approaching death of this brave officer.  His life is despaired of.  He lost an arm in the desperate assault on Vicksburg when it was first invested.  We hoped his arrival at home and the kind attention of his family would restore him, but he has gradually fallen in spite of every effort **** ***** ******.
