      Henry H. Rohrssen, civil war veteran and a resident of this vicinity for 70 years, died this morning at 8:40 o'clock at the home of his son, L.H. Rogrssen, 383 East Chicago street.
      He was born in Kurfursten, Hessen, Germany, on August 26, 1844, the son of Otto and Mary Rohrssen and came to the United States 70 years ago, settling first in Hanover.  He moved to Elgin 24 years ago.
      The deceased entered the Union army as a private in Co. A., Second Regiment, Iowa Infantry in 1862 at the age of 19 years.  He saw active service for two years and five months and was honorably discharged in 1865.
      On September 22, 1867, he was married to Augusta Freeman.  To this union nine children were born, five of whom survive.  They are Mrs. Jacob Muller of Elgin, Mrs. William Buesche of Hanover, L.H. of Elgin and John and Edward of Algonquin.  He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Heideman, Iowa: Mrs. Meier, Chicago and Mrs. Engel Krunnfusn of Elgin.
      Mr. Rogrssen was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical church and was a Grand Army Veteran.  Members of the G.A.R. will attend the funeral services in a body.
      Private services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home and in public from the Wait-Ross-Allanson church at 2 o'clock.  Rev. T.F. Bierbaum will officiate.  Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.

   Henry H. Rohrssen died this morning at 8:40 o'clock at the home of his son Louis at 383 East Chicago street.  He was born in Germany, Aug. 26, 1834, and came to America seventy years ago.  He made his home in Hanover township until twenty-four years ago when he came to Elgin.  He was a private in Co. A. 2nd Regiment of Iowa infantry in the Civil war.
   Surviving him are five children:  Mrs. Jacob Muller, and Louis of this city, Mrs. William Buesche of Hanover, john and Edward of Algonquin and sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Also three sisters Mrs. Heideman of Iowa, Mrs. Meier of Chicago and Mrs. Engel Krumfusz of this city.
   Funeral services will be private at 1:30 o'clock Sunday from the late home and at 2 o'clock from the Wait-Ross-Allanson funeral church.  The Rev. Theodore F. Bierbaum will officiate.  Burial will be at Bluff City cemetery.
