Pvt. Jacob H. Sexton

E Co. 117th NY Inf.
   Aged 32 years.
   Enlisted Aug. 8, 1862 at Rome.
   Mustered In Aug. 13, 1862 as a Private.
   Discharged due to Disability Nov. 10, 1862 at Fort Franklin, Maryland.

Post war;
   Moved to Elgin, Ill.
   Listed on the 1870 Census #237/244 as aged 39 years, from New York, living in Burlington, Ill.
   Joined Elgin GAR Veteran's Post #49 June 15, 1880.
   Member First Methodist Episcoble Church.
   Resided on Russell St.
 
   Obit; Jan. 4, 1896 issue of Elgin's Every Saturday.
   Jacob M. Seton died suddenly Dec. 28, at the home of a friend in Chicago, where he was visiting.  The remains were brought here for interment and the funeral was held at his late home on Russell street Tuesday, under the auspices of Veteran Post, G.A.R.  His wife and two sons survive him.  He was 65 years old, a member of the First M.E. church and of the G.A.R.

Obit lists him as holding the rank of Captain, there is no record in the New York AGR of any promotion.
