      John saunders, aged 81 years, for twenty-five years a resident of this city, died yesterday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Silas Tarr, at Glouseter, Mass., where he was spending a short time on a visit.
      He was born in Digby county, Nova Scotia, December 4, 1828.  He was a member of the first Baptist church.  Two weeks ago he left for the east to visit his sister.  Word of his death was received here today.
      He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. H. v. Allen and Mrs. Fred Brandenberg of this city.  Mrs. clark Strong of Happy, Texas and Mrs. William Porter of Arcadia and three sons, charles E. Saunders of Independence, Iowa and Albert and George Saunders of Durango, Colo.  Four sisters living in the east also remain.
      The remains will be forwarded to Elgin.  The funeral notice will be published tomorrow.
