   Mustered In Sept. 4, 1862.
   Home of record listed as Coral, Ill's.
   Wounded in Action, in right hand with the loss of two fingers, action not listed.
   Discharged Jan. 15, 1862 due to wounds.

Post war;
   Listed on the 1870 Census #257/252 as aged 30 years, from New York, living in Coral, Ill.
   Moved to Elgin.
   Awarded a pension of $8.00 per month for his wound.
   Joined Elgin GAR Veteran's Post #49 Sept. 1, 1885.
 
   Death Notice; Dec. 4, 1886 issue of Elgin's Every Saturday.
   John T. Prouse died Tuesday night at his home in this city, aged 47 years.  He was a native of New York, interment at Coral, McHenry county.

   Buried at Coral, Ill.
