      John W. Sharp, well known in Elgin, died Monday evening at 8:00 o'clock at his home No. 2484 Hermitage avenue, Ravenswood, Ill.  He had been sick for a long period, but was taken seriously ill only a week ago.  Mr. Sharp was formerly a prominent fruit dealer in Elgin, coming here about thirty years ago.  He was born in Arkport, Steuben Co., N. Y., about seventy-one years ago, coming to Dundee thirty-five years ago, and later to Elgin where he engaged in the wholesale fruit business.  Several years ago he moved to Chicago and engaged in the commission business on South Water street.  He was twice married first to a sister of M. H. Thompson, and later to Lottie Nicholson of this city, sister of John Nicholson.  He was a member of the 52d regiment among whose numbers he leaves many warm friends.  He leaves besides his wife, one sister, Mrs. D. H. Butler, of Elgin, and two children, Miss Kate Sharp of this city and Robert N. of Chicago.  The funeral will held at the family home in Chicago at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday.  Burial at Dundee, Ill., at 2:30 p.m.
