       Obit: May 14, 1923 issue The Elgin Daily Courier.
   Joseph Sturges died Sunday, May 13, at 5:20 o'clock, at his home, 666 Dundee avenue after a brief illness of three weeks, which was the first sickness during his lifetime, he being eighty-two years, two months and twenty-four days old.
   Mr. Sturges came to america from clatford, Hampshire, England, in 1860 and enlisted in the Civil war May 18, 1865, he belonged to Co. G, 134th Illinois volunteer infantry.
   Mr. Sturges is survived by his wife and four children, Harry of Belvidere, William of Caledonia, Roy and Nell of Elgin.  Mr. Sturges was a member of the first Methodist church of Elgin.
   Funeral services will be strictly private from the home Tuesday, May 15.  Interment in Bluff city cemetery.
