Found drowned at the 'Devil's Catch All' tangled in some trees, May 12, 1881. This after a number of bridges had swept away on the Fox River.
Buried at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, Ill.

I don't have a direct link but the name and dates suggest it's the same man. Military record is not mentioned in the Obit. Obit from the May 14, 1881 Elgin Advocate.
