Died Nov. 28, 1903, 3:45 at 110 N. Union St.  Aged 80/11/19.  Cause of death listed as Cancer of Face 2 years with Old Age.  Undertaker retained, Bunker & Chambers.  Physician, Anson L. Clark.  Permit #9440.

   Monroe Underhill, a veteran of the Civil war and for over half a century a resident of this locality, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.T. Gahan, of No. 110 North Union street.  For several years he had been afflicted with cancer, which was the immediate cause of his demise.
   Deceased was born eighty-one years ago at Ellsburg, New York state.  While a resident of this city he enlisted in the 127th regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry and was in the service three years.  He was a member of Veteran post, G.A.R., of Elgin.  Surviving are two daughters and one son, Mrs. W.H. Trimmie, of Willow Springs, Mo., Mrs. A.T. Gahan and Hazen Underhill, of Elgin.
   The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the late residence and at 2 o'clock from Grace Methodist church.  Interment at Bluff City cemetery.  Rev. F.F. Farmilow will officiate and the funeral will be in charge of the G.A.R.
