Pvt. George W. Nance

A Co. 140th Ill. Vol. Inf.
100 Day's Service
   Mustered In June 18, 1864 at Camp Butler in Springfield, Ill's.
   Mustered Out Oct. 29, 1864 at Camp Fry in Chicago, Ill's.
   After Muster Out Adjutant General Fuller asked that they extend their service.  They did.  They were sent to Mo. in pursuit of Gen. Price.  This action added six weeks to their service.

Post war;
   Moved to Elgin, Ill's.
   Joined Elgin GAR Veteran's Post #49 Aug. 7, 1888.
   Member GAR Post #146
   Died April 29, 1917.

Members of Post #49 sewed watch faces to their ribbons so everyone would know they were from Elgin.
